Drywall Repair in Mineola
Cracks over doorways, nail pops, a hole from a doorknob or a stain from an old leak. We repair damaged drywall so the wall looks like it was never touched, and the same small crew stays with your job from the first look to the last pass of sanding.
When drywall repair is the right call
Drywall repair covers damage that goes beyond a quick dab of spackle but doesn't call for tearing out a whole wall. Think cracked tape joints, crumbling corners, soft spots left by water, or a section cut open for an electrician. We cut out what's failed, set new board or backing where needed, tape, mud, sand and match the texture around it.
You'll deal with the same few people the whole way through. The person who looks at your wall is the one who comes back to finish it, so nothing gets lost between visits and you aren't explaining the problem twice.
If your damage is small and contained, our drywall patching page may fit better. If the trouble is overhead, see ceiling repair.
What our drywall repair includes
Finding the cause first
A crack that keeps coming back usually has a reason, like loose tape, a missing screw or seasonal movement. We look for it before we patch, so the repair holds.
Cutting out damaged board
Water-softened or crushed drywall won't take mud well. We cut back to solid material and add wood backing behind the opening when the gap is wide.
Taping and mudding in coats
We embed fresh tape, then apply thin coats of joint compound with drying time between each. Rushing this step is what leaves visible ridges later.
Texture matching
Smooth, light orange peel or a knockdown pattern, we match what's already on your wall so the repair blends in under normal light.
Sanding and dust control
We sand with care and keep the area covered. Floors and furniture near the work get drop cloths, and we leave a clean work area each day.
Primer and paint touch-up
Fresh compound soaks up paint differently than the wall around it. We prime the repair and can handle a paint touch-up if you have the original paint on hand.
Signs your drywall needs repair
Cracks at doors and windows
Diagonal cracks running off the corners of a door frame are common as a house shifts and settles. They tend to widen if left alone.
Nail or screw pops
Small round bumps in a row mean fasteners are backing out. We reset them and refinish the spots so they stay down.
Stains or bubbling paint
A brown ring or blistered paint often points to old water exposure. Once the leak is fixed, the soft board behind it should come out.
Peeling or lifting tape
Seams that look like a loose strip of paper usually trace back to too little mud under the tape. A skim over the top won't hold.
Holes and dents
Doorknob strikes, moving-day gouges and old anchor holes add up. Grouping them into one visit saves you time.
How a repair visit goes
- 1
A phone call about your wall
Tell us what you're seeing and where. We'll ask a few questions and set a time to come look.
- 2
We look and explain
At your home we check the damage, look for the cause and tell you plainly what the repair involves. You'll know the plan before any work begins.
- 3
Prep and repair
We cover floors, move what needs moving and get to work. Most repairs take more than one visit because each coat of compound has to dry fully.
- 4
Finish and clean up
After final sanding and texture matching, we prime, handle any paint touch-up and clean up so the room is ready to use again.
What affects the cost of drywall repair
Every wall is a little different, so we price the job after seeing it. We'll walk you through what's driving the number and get you a quote you can understand before we start.
- Size and number of areas
- One cracked seam is a different job from damage spread across three rooms. Several repairs done in one trip usually cost less than separate visits.
- What's behind the wall
- Wet insulation, missing backing or wiring close to the surface can add steps once the damaged board is open.
- Texture and finish
- A smooth wall is the most forgiving. Heavy or hand-applied textures take more time to blend so the repair doesn't stand out.
- Height and access
- Stairwells, tall entry walls and spots behind built-ins take extra setup and care.
Drywall repair questions

Will I be able to see where the repair was made?
Our goal is a repair you won't notice in everyday light. We feather the compound well past the damaged area and match the texture. Paint sheen matters too, so having your original paint helps the final touch-up blend.
How long does a typical repair take?
Many repairs need two or three short visits because joint compound has to dry between coats. Damp or cold weather can slow drying, especially in winter. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we see the wall.
My crack came back after someone else fixed it. Why?
Usually the original repair covered the crack without dealing with loose tape or a fastener that kept moving. We open it up, secure what's loose and re-tape it properly. That's the difference between a cover-up and a real repair.
Do I need to fix the leak before you repair water damage?
Yes. The source has to be fixed and the area fully dry first, or new drywall will stain and soften again. Once that's done, we'll replace the damaged section and finish it to match.
Will there be a lot of dust in my home?
Sanding does make dust, but we keep it contained. We cover floors and nearby furniture, close off the area where we can and clean up before we leave each day.
